Sample Testing

GT Abatement Inc. offers a variety of sample testing including:

• Bulk sample testing,

• Air sample testing,

• Designated Substance Survey (DSS)

Sampling services are the way to go if you are unsure if an area may contain mold spores within the air or upon surfaces, or the presence of asbestos within the air or a select material that could potentially be disturbed during a removal process.

Designated Substances Survey

The objective of the Designated Substance Survey (DSS) is to determine the extent, if any, in which workers involved in the demolition work at the building would be exposed to the above-noted substances, and accordingly, to comply with the previously referenced provincial Act and Regulations.  The owner of a property is obligated to submit the list of Designated Substances identified on the project site to all prospective Constructors.

The scope of the assignment included the following tasks:

• Conduct an assessment for the presence of Designated Substances, including friable and non-friable asbestos-containing materials (ACM) found in accessible areas of the building facilities. Establish the type and condition of such materials, where accessible.  Evaluate the potential hazard to workers presented by any suspect friable materials containing asbestos.

• Acquire bulk samples of suspected ACM and commission such samples for asbestos determination utilizing the technique of polarized light microscopy (PLM) with dispersion staining.

• Prioritize areas requiring removal of asbestos.
